Jennifer Husbands, Ph.D

Jennifer is the Director of the AUSL Institute, a consulting practice within the Academy for Urban School Leadership that provides advisory services to schools, districts, and other organizations interested in AUSL’s teacher residency model and/or approach to turning around chronically low- performing schools. Jennifer is the former Director of Teacher Induction for the Chicago office of The New Teacher Center, where she led a team of coaches deployed to support novice teachers in Chicago Public Schools (CPS). Prior to that, she was the Director of School Incubation and Professional Development for the Office of New Schools within CPS, providing resources, support, and training to charter and contract schools during the start-up phase as well as ongoing professional development opportunities to up and running new schools. Before moving to Chicago, Jennifer served as the Director of Teacher Certification and Site Support at High Tech High (HTH), a network of high- performing, project-based learning focused charter schools in San Diego. She has served on the board of the Buck Institute for Education and is a former member of the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
